Is it really time to fall back tomorrow? I’m tired of falling, I do way too much of it. Adjust your clocks or you will be off schedule for church on Sunday.

Great new things in our town: the Tisbury Public Works sign has been replaced with a lovely new sign. I was just on the verge of calling Fred LaPiana to tell him the old sign was unreadable. You can view this new piece of art on High Point Road off State Road.

The charter school scarecrows, on display at many Island businesses, are always a delight. Now in their tenth year, the money raised will go to a new science lab.

I say this in the kindest light: Bill Little, president of our Rotary Club this year, is a big kid. Who is surprised that he organized the Rotary Club to give free hayrides to our children, from any town? The rides will commence today from 2 p.m. to dusk, and on Saturday and Sunday, same time, as well. Park at the Tisbury Wharf, the wagon will drive to the Steamship dock and return to Ralph Packer’s Tisbury Wharf. All children will be given a free pumpkin and bag of candy. Thank you, Ralph, the Rotary, and Sam Koohey at Stop & Shop.

We’re in the second month of our annual winter first Sunday of the month American Legion Hall breakfasts, 8 to 10 a.m. at the hall on Martin Road. Grownups eat for $6, kids under 12 chow down for $3. You can’t beat the price, the food, and the camaraderie. I’ll see you there on Sunday.

Our library is offering a free film — with popcorn! — on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Kathy Bates, Dan Aykroyd, and cameos from Julie Andrews and Barry Manilow, highlight this comedy, tragedy, mystery soup of cinema excellence. I’ll see you there.

The library is hosting a free lecture on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Sheldon Hackney, distinguished professor of the David Bowles seat at the University of Pennsylvania, and a beloved resident of our town. Sheldon will speak on the concept of the American character and freedom. Don’t miss it.

Children continue to be entertained at our wonderful library. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, infants to two year olds get stories, songs, and dinosaur activities at 10 a.m., the three to five year olds enjoy the same at 11 a.m. On Thursday, Nov. 5, the older kids explore the same subject from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. I am a dinosaur aficionado. I’m sneaking in.

The Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Network has a special session Girl Geek Camp scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Espresso Love in Edgartown. Snacks and coffee will be sold. This subject is Social Media Scavenger Hunt: The Ultimate Learn by Doing. Well, it sounds fascinating and each table will be provided with a laptop to work on their scavenger hunt. Call 917-841-0656, visit geekgirlcamp.com, or mvwomensnetwork.org for details. How I long for the days when everyone had one phone number and one address!

Please pray with me for Stephanie Berryman, who had an accident and is recovering in Boston.

The birthday bandwagon pulls along Deva Lieberman and my godmother, Frances Graziani, tomorrow, on Halloween. Nov. 1 is for Guillherme Leao. Nov. 2 honors Mauro Cotta. Nov. 3 is for John Budris. Nov. 4 is claimed by Marianne Schmidt, Becca Hamilton, and Marianne Ojile. And on Nov. 5 Alex Campbell, Jessica Brown, and Claire Joannidi take the cake. Many happy returns.
