This week was a bonus with the weather. I actually had the windows open to change the air in the house. It was a great weekend as we were in T-shirts at the Shed watching the Pats game.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Thiago Muniz, who celebrated his day Nov. 2; Andrew DeOliveira, Nov. 4; Christopher Clark, Nov. 7; Jillian Pyden, Nov. 8; and to Nicole Bourgault, who celebrated her day Nov. 12.

Special birthday wishes go out to Barbara Polleys Parker, who will celebrate her 80th birthday Nov. 14. As a special present, the owners of the Mediterranean will open the restaurant for her to have a luncheon with her family and friends. Also it will be special for Barbara and her husband, Charlie, who just celebrated their 12th anniversary on Nov. 3.

I received an e-mail asking me to wish our former police chief D. James Arena a happy 80th birthday on Nov. 18. His family, who live in Vermont, want to send him love and lot of laughs on his special day.

Happy anniversary to Jonathan and Tina Polleys, who celebrated their day Nov. 10.

Last Saturday Sharky’s was the place to be. It was the site of the first Wingfest, a culinary challenge to teams made up of local businesses and town employees. Each team entry had its own table featuring their own special recipes for chicken wings. Then guests made their way around the tables and voted for their favorite wings. There was a clean sweep for our town! The Edgartown firemen won best in show, the town hall came in second, and then the Edgartown School. It was a lot of fun and there was a great turnout.

I can’t believe that in two weeks it will be Thanksgiving. Then you know what is next. I have a friend on Facebook who is counting down the days, and it was funny at 60 days, but now we are down in the 40s and if you listen to some radio stations they are already playing Christmas carols.

There is not much news this week. Things are quieting down a bit, but I would love to hear from you if you have some tidbit you would like to put in the column.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
