Tom Clark, Collections and Grounds Manager at the Polly Hill Arboretum, is giving a talk, Seasons of the Polly Hill Arboretum, at the Oak Bluffs library on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

The Polly Hill Arboretum is a beautiful and enchanting landscape regardless of the season, and a walk around the grounds any day of the year, whether for quiet reflection or serious study of plants, is rewarding. The seasons also serve as a metaphor for the history of the arboretum. Mr. Clark will take lecturegoers on a stroll through the seasons, and look at the history of this Island horticultural landmark.

Collections and grounds manager at the arboretum since 2006,Mr. Clark is a self-avowed plant geek. Prior to that he spent 12 years as Gardens Supervisor at Mount Holyoke College Botanic Garden in western Massachusetts where he grew up and continues to maintain and develop a diverse garden with his wife, Sandy. He trained at the Chicago Botanic Garden, spent a year at the Threave School of Horticulture in Scotland and has taken part in seed collecting trips to Yunnan, China, Japan and to various areas of North America.
