Farm to School Food Bill

Island Grown Initiative would like to draw attention to a piece of legislation currently pending in Congress that would allocate $50 million in mandatory funding to Farm to School programs around the country if passed. Representative Rush Holt from New Jersey introduced the Farm to School Improvements Act and is looking for cosponsors to help make sure it is included in the upcoming Child Nutrition Act reauthorization. Vineyarders in support of getting food from local farms in the public schools are urged to call Cong. William Delahunt at 202-225-3111, and ask him to support Mr. Holt’s initiative and cosponsor the bill.
