The gibbous moon appears next to the bright planet Saturn tomorrow night. The two appear high in the east after sunset and remain visible through the evening. The two are in the zodiacal constellation Virgo.
The red planet Mars remains high in the west after sunset. The planet, which was in opposition last winter, is now in the zodiacal constellation Leo. Mars is a dull reddish color, compared to its brilliance last winter. For the future, the planet will continue to fade and get farther away as our weather gets warmer.
The brightest planet in the eastern sky is Venus and it is the easiest planet to spot after sunset. Venus appears for a few hours high in the west. Last weekend we saw the crescent moon appear next to Venus in a display that was memorable. Skies were especially clear and the two were a pretty pair.
Venus is in the zodiacal constellation Gemini. For those with a clear view of the western sky, Venus is a sight for another reason. If the light of twilight will allow, you may be able to spot a faint star cluster right next to Venus.
