Beecher — Straus

Mrs. Pat Calabrese of Lake Forest, Ill., and Nantucket, and E. Ronald Beecher of Chicago announce the engagement of their daughter, Katharine Pierce Beecher, to John Alexander Straus Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Straus of Darien, Conn., and Oak Bluffs.

The future bride is a graduate of Lake Forest High School and St. Lawrence University. Daisy, as she is known, is teaching at Peabody Terrace Children's Center, Cambridge, Mass. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Hadwen Barney of Boca Grande, Fla. and Nantucket, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Evan R. Beecher of Red Bank, NJ. John is a graduate of Darien High School and St. Lawrence University. He is employed as an analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston. His grandparents are Victor deNigris of Tuscon, Ariz. and the late Mrs. DeNigris and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Straus of Southberry, Conn.

The wedding will take place December 4, 2010 at Westmoor Farms on Nantucket.
