Patty and Skip Vanderwarker of Spring Island, S.C., and West Chop, announce the marriage of their daughter, Meredith, to Tucker Martin, on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Mr. Martin is the son of Patty and Emerson Martin of New Canaan, Conn.
The ceremony was on the lawn of the bride’s uncles and aunt’s house, on one side of the West Chop Lighthouse. The Rev. Thomas Speers, a family friend, from Simsbury, Conn., and West Chop, officiated at the ceremony. The reception followed at the bride’s family lawn on the other side of the West Chop Lighthouse. The Reese/Vanderwarker home has been in the family since 1948.
Sunny, warm weather and a blue sky prevailed after many rainy June days. The maid of honor was Elizabeth Tuke of New York, a college friend of the bride. The best men were the bridegroom’s two brothers, Trevor and Taggert Martin.
The couple was attended by high school and college friends, and family members who included four flower girls, cousins of the bride, Emily Fortenbaugh, and Josephine and Lane Rieck, and Reese Vanderwarker, the niece of the bride. William Fortenbaugh, also a cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Readings were by the bridegroom’s grandmother, Elizabeth Humphreys of Duxbury, and cousins of the bride, Eliza Reese Fortenbaugh and David Reese.
The bride graduated from New Canaan High School in 2000 and from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2004. She works in New York for Louis Vuitton North America as a coordinator for the store planning and development division.
The bridegroom works in New York as an associate in the securities unit of Credit Suisse: he focuses on originating financing for the firm’s corporate clients. He graduated from Brunswick School in Greenwich, Conn., and Georgetown University.
After a wedding trip to the Greek islands, Istanbul and Paris, the couple resides in New York city.
