Three artists will open exhibits at the Field Gallery with a reception open to the public on Sunday, June 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Jhenn Watts’s emulsion lifts on glass are a favorite on Martha’s Vineyard and throughout New England. Her photography focuses on the landscape and textural surroundings of the Island. Having mastered the unusual process of the Polaroid emulsion lift, she expanded the technique to emulsion lifts printed on glass. This show includes 40 images that are in her words “the last of the last,” these are images that are one of a kind, and represent the end of an era in photography. The Polaroid film she uses is no longer manufactured, making this process no longer available.

Jeff Hoerle’s oil paintings contain confident and strong brushwork that captures the bold beauty of the sky and the pastoral landscape of the Vineyard, and celebrate the natural geometry of the Island. As a plein air painter, his works balance direct observation and spontaneity on location with a more considered process and imagination in the studio. By using abstracted representation he refocuses the viewer from the subject to the quality and effect of his technique with palette knives and large brushes, adding depth to his images.

Fine jeweler Kenneth Pillsworth works in fine metals embellished with precious and semiprecious stones. His work has a strong graphic quality and a unique juxtaposition of materials and forms. His approach to jewelry design is influenced by a formal background in painting and through apprenticeships with several renowned jewelers.

This show continues through July 3 at the West Tisbury gallery across from Alley’s General Store, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
