The Vineyard Haven Public Library Summer Reading Program for children of all ages begins July 1 and continues through August 31. This year, the statewide theme is Go Green at Your Library. Children are encouraged to visit the library, sign up, keep a log of books read and attend programs, which will include story times, crafts, chess club, teen time, teen night and several film showings.

Special guests are scheduled during the summer, including musicians Julie Austin and Jeremy Berlin, authors Becky Loescher, Matt DeBettencourt and Rachel Luna; the story character Peter Rabbit, science teachers Kathy Forester and Bruce Riseborough, and naturalist Gus Ben David. Performers and guests are made possible by the support of the Friends of the Library. A musical concert with the Alards and storytelling with Diane Edgecomb is funded through the generosity of the Anderson Foundation.
