Tonight’s gibbous moon appears low in the zodiac, in the constellation Sagittarius. The moon spends the night in the South. For those who visit South Beach at night, the moon marks a sparkling trail from the viewer to just under the moon. The size of the sparkles will be guided by how turbulent the sea is under the moon.

The moon spends the rest of the weekend getting full. Our moon is full on Tuesday and we call it the Sailor’s Moon.

Moon and Jupiter

The moon passes by the bright planet Jupiter on Wednesday night. The two are in the zodiacal constellation Pisces. Pisces is a constellation we associate more with autumn than summer.

Venus, Mars and Saturn

The three evening planets are low in the western sky after sunset. Only Venus is the easy planet to spot. Venus outshines all others. The red planet Mars is to the right of Venus. Saturn is even farther right, close to west southwest.

For those with keen vision, notice that Venus is near the bright star Spica. The two are getting closer together.
