Casting Ballots for the Funny Bone

Fed up with the punditocracy doing the yellathon thing day after day? Tired of watching fellow humans go frothy with the rightousness of their own ego? Whatever happened to the color gray, anyway? Or humor?

Well, this Saturday the air is being taken out of the gasbags — all of them, be they Democrat or Republican.

The brainchild of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central, the march on our nation’s capital is called the Rally to Restore Sanity/Keep Fear Alive. The aim of the rally, so they say, is to give voice to the 80 per cent of the population who are not extreme in their views.

But DC is a long way to go. The Lampost is a lot closer.

That’s right, the Lampost is a hosting a party from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. to enjoy the rally via multiple screens showing the live broadcast. Attendees are urged to bring costumes, dumb signs, noisemakers, snacks, soapbox speeches, anything at all so long as it involves a firm tongue in cheek.

For general information on the national rally visit keepfearalive.com or www.rallytorestoresanity.com.
