Good Shepherd Parish and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will team up to offer a Centering Prayer retreat on Friday, Nov. 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. The retreat is open to Christians of all denominations.

The event takes place at Good Shepherd Parish Center at 55 School street in Oak Bluffs. Refreshments and dessert will be served. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch.

The Rev. Alden Besse of Grace Episcopal Church describes Centering Prayer as “an ancient tradition in the church which is a quiet and concentrated meditation intended to anchor our beings in God, so that instead of being shoved in all directions at once we have a central, firm foundation.”
