While the Ink Is Still Wet
Reading a book that has already been published is so, well, regular Sunday driving. How about taking a peek behind the creative process and hearing work that is not yet ready for publication? In other words, work that is still evolving.
It takes a brave artist to go public during the artistic process, a bit like parading naked down Main street during the street fair. Actually, that would be more illegal than brave. But this Saturday, March 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. eight writers will legally put their babies on display while reading at the Bunch of Grapes Bookstore on Main street in Vineyard Haven.
The event is cosponsored by Adult and Community Education (ACE MV) and features a wide range of Island writers: John Hough Jr. (Seen the Glory and The Last Summer), Susan Klein (Through a Ruby Window and Martha’s Vineyard: Now & Zen), Nancy Aronie (Writing from the Heart); Cynthia Riggs (Touch-Me-Not and The Bee Balm Murders); Michael Ditchfield (A Very Minor Profit and Marlboro Patch), Nancy Gaffney (Prey for Closure and Another Way), Zelda Gamson (Google My Brain, and In My Grandfather’s Shoes) and Susan Strane (Where is the River and A Whole-Souled Woman).
Ron Dagostino will emcee the afternoon.
