The following reader comments were posted to the story about the death of Michael Ovios, a former longtime teacher in the Tisbury School.

My condolences to your family. I was honored to have Mr. Ovios as a teacher starting in 1975. I can honestly say he started me on my joy of building and being crafty. The school will truly be at a loss of a great mentor and craftsman.

Mr. O. was and always will be my favorite teacher. I have everything that I ever built in his class. Every day I would walk into the school or into his class and he would say, “Hey princess, how are you today, what do you want to make today?” If you were having a bad day he would always be there to say, “Smile, it could be worse.” And it is. We lost one of the best teachers in the world.

Mr. O, I love you and you will always be in my heart. I started at the Tisbury School in 1992 and I came out in 2002 with the knowledge of how to hold a hammer without hurting myself. I will take everything I learned from you and keep it forever . . . RIP, you will be missed.
