The Reverend Linda Noonan will be the guest preacher at the Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs on Sunday, July 17. Rev. Noonan, a pastor at the Chestnut Hill United Church in Philadelphia (a United Methodist and United Church of Christ congregation), has spent the past 21 years of ministry between South Africa and the United States. Ordained in the United Church of Christ, Rev. Noonan’s work in South Africa has included teaching Feminist Theology at the University of Durban-Westville, serving as a chaplain and teacher in a girls’ school and doing crisis-response work during a period of violent conflict in the country. In the United States, she has served in urban congregations in Chicago, worked as a pediatric hospital and a hospice chaplain, co-led church delegations to South Africa and Chiapas, Mexico and was editor and coordinator of an advocacy project on South Africa.

Rev. Noonan has two teenage daughters, loves to eat anything they bake and reads everything they recommend.

Union Chapel is a nondenominational church located at the intersection of Circuit, Kennebec and Narragansett avenues. The organ prelude by Garrett Brown begins at 9:40 a.m. and the service is at 10 a.m. All are welcome.
