What I’m Reading on the
Ferry Martha’s Vineyard
In August 2004, aboard the Islander, I asked a variety of travelers between Woods Hole and the Vineyard to share what they were reading. Seven years later, I thought it would be fun to see, totally without any scientific method, what reading habits are like now. I had expected to see lots of Kindles (and other e-book readers), but not a one in sight (at least on this trip). What was different this time: the sheer number of travelers spending the whole 45-minute crossing (this time on the MV Martha’s Vineyard) texting.
But lots of people are still reading printed books; here’s a sampling.
