Blair Cavanaugh Gallagher and Arthur Wellman Sheehan were married on Saturday, Sept. 10 by the Rev. David Marcotte, S.J. at Saint Mary Church in Greenwich, Conn. A reception followed at the Belle Haven Club, where the couple and bridal party arrived by boat.
The bride, 29, is a residential real estate sales associate in New York with Brown Harris Stevens, LLC. She graduated from Westminster School and Georgetown University. She is a daughter of Irene Graham Gallagher and Vincent Edward Gallagher of Greenwich and Shelter Harbor, R.I. Her father is a financial consultant to technology companies, after 40 years on Wall Street in investment banking. Her mother is the founder and president of Round Hill Partners, a residential real estate boutique firm in Greenwich.
The bridegroom, 32, is a manager in New Jersey for GAF Materials Corp., a building materials manufacturing company. He graduated from St. Paul’s School and Cornell University College of Engineering. He also received a master’s in business administration from Columbia University. He is a son of Pauline Vietor Sheehan and Robert William Sheehan of New York and Edgartown. His father is a partner in the New York law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, where he is chair of the trusts and estates practice and private client group.
The bride’s matron of honor was her sister, Brooke Gallagher Podewils. The bridegroom’s best man was his childhood friend, Bradford Royce Sykes Aston, who attended prekindergarten through high school with the bridegroom and also spends summers in Edgartown with his wife’s family.
The bridegroom spent his childhood summers with his numerous cousins at the family compound on South Water street in Edgartown. The bridegroom’s great-grandmother, Martha Know Orr (Mrs. Carl L. Vietor), was born in Cottage City (Oak Bluffs) and was a summer resident for many years, as was her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Orr Vietor, and their children, among whom is the bridegroom’s mother.
The couple spent their honeymoon in Bali and Hong Kong. They live in New York city and enjoy spending time during the summer in Edgartown and Shelter Harbor, where her family summers.
