The Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group is hosting a community workshop to explore the ideas and challenges of shell recycling on the Vineyard. The event takes place on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wakeman Center on Lambert’s Cove Road in Vineyard Haven.

As part of the discussion, Jessica Kanozak will report on the progress of the first year of the Martha’s Vineyard Shell Recovery Partnership.

The event also features special guest Stephan Abel, Executive Director of the Maryland Oyster Recovery Partnership, who will present stories of successful shell recycling in the Chesapeake area.

Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group Director Rick Karney, and Emma Green-Beach of the Marine Biological Laboratory round out the afternoon.

The workshop is free. Coffee and light lunch is provided, including chowder donated by State Road Restaurant.
