Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate for the United State senate from Massachusetts, will make an appearance on the Vineyard at a fundraiser this weekend. Ms. Warren will speak at an event at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Sunday, July 1, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Organizers are asking attendees to contribute at least $25 to be a friend; other contribution levels range from $50 to be a supporter to $250 to be a host. Sponsored by a group of Vineyard Democrats, the event is being billed as a conversation with Elizabeth Warren. A former Harvard law professor, Ms. Warren is running against incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown in the November election. The high-profile race for the seat formerly occupied by the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy is being closely watched around the country.
