Dick Carlson of Oak Bluffs won the 15th annual Klays for Kids charity skeet shoot Sunday at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club. The event benefits the club’s three projects for Island kids.
Dick took first place with a score of 48 of 50 targets, while last year’s winner, Bill Damora, picked up second place, followed by Spider Andreson of Chilmark, who took third place.
Each participant shot a minimum of two rounds of 25 targets, but could shoot as many additional rounds as he or she wanted. The goal was for the shooters to put their two best rounds of 25 targets together for the highest score. Each participant paid anywhere from 25 cents to $1 per missed target, depending on ability. The event raised more than $200 for children’s charities.
On August 12, the club will hold its 2012 annual skeet championship. The public is welcome.
