Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

This is written from a Nantucketer to Vineyarders. Maybe you do not want to hear this due to simple petty rivalry but I am coming as a fellow Islander (as a Nantucketer) with so much in common. I love your special place and if I could live there, I would. I am your home-birth midwife, and I have had the pleasure of being part of your community in such a positive way for the past seven years. So although this thought is totally unrelated to childbirth, I have a suggestion to make. You need to get rotaries happening. Edgartown and the intersections of Barnes and Edgartown Roads as well as Beach Road and the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road are in need of help. Please come to Nantucket and see how rotaries keep the traffic flowing. Need a place to stay overnight and observe? Let me know — you are welcome at my home. Please come and see how flowing movement around a rotary keeps things happy. You would be amazed at the traffic relief.
