Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

Deborah Jaffe Yeomans welcomed me at her cottage near Menemsha in 2010. We had a few days of rain and walked into little shops she had not seen. We ate at the docks in Oak Bluffs and later were surprised by the arrival of President Obama and Malia and Sasha. The first family went upstairs to a private dining area, but we still got photos of the group. Debbie wore a catching visor and was interviewed for the local television station.

Debbie died on June 19, and a service took place in Dedham on June 30. I always regret I did not see her home in Chilmark, and never realized she had been very talented in music.
