The Moon and Saturn appear as a pair low in the eastern sky after sunset tonight. The two are in the zodiacal constellation Libra. The moon is one day past full moon and only slightly dimmer than it was last night.
   
This weekend, the moon passes through the zodiacal constellation Scorpius, a constellation we most often associate with summer. If you are up late tonight, around midnight, the constellations you mostly see are our summer constellations.

Bootes, the shepherd, which was rising in the east at sunset earlier in the month, is overhead at midnight. Rising high in the east are the three constellations; Hercules, the warrior, Cygnus the swan and Aquila the eagle.

Hercules has no brilliant stars but it is distinguishable by four fairly bright stars that form almost a square. Cygnus looks like a large Christian cross. Cygnus has a bright star at the top of the cross called Deneb.

Aquila has the bright star Altair. Together these three constellations possess a wide range of deep space objects from star clusters to nebula. Point a pair of binoculars towards Cygnus and Aquila and you’ll be amazed at how many stars are there. This is one of the thickest places in the Milky Way to see stars.
