Two magazines dedicated to the wedding industry on Martha’s Vineyard will be merged into a single magazine to be published twice a year.
Martha’s Vineyard Wedding, owned by Hurd Publishing, will become part of Martha’s Vineyard Island Weddings, published by the Vineyard Gazette Media Group, Gazette publisher Jane Seagrave announced this week. Leslie Hurd, president of Hurd Publishing, will continue an association with the magazine to help ensure a successful transition, she added.
The combined magazine and website will feature color photography with planning tips and feature stories about real weddings, as well as practical information about transportation, venues, accommodations, flowers, catering and other services couples need to plan an event on the Vineyard. The magazine will be available for sale in numerous locations on and off the Island, as well as through wedding planners.
The first issue of the new magazine will be available on newsstands in July.
“We’re excited to be teaming up with Leslie Hurd, who was first to see the growing popularity of the Vineyard as a place to get married, take a honeymoon or both,” Ms. Seagrave said.
Since Martha’s Vineyard Wedding was founded in 1996, the Vineyard has become one of the top wedding destinations in the nation, now touted as second only to Las Vegas in popularity.
“Combining two great publications into a single title will benefit Island businesses by providing one go-to place to showcase their products and services,” said Ms. Hurd. “I’m pleased to be working with the Vineyard Gazette, with its well earned reputation for quality and customer service.”
Founded in 2007, Martha’s Vineyard Island Weddings has been published annually by Martha’s Vineyard Magazine, part of the Vineyard Gazette Media Group. Under the merger, the new Martha’s Vineyard Island Weddings will add a second issue each year. Martha’s Vineyard Magazine also produces two Home & Garden magazines annually.
