As president of the Vineyard Conservation Society, I want to express our sincere appreciation to the Vineyard community for coming out and helping with this year’s Earth Day beach cleanup. Cleaning up trash is not easy, but doing it on a beautiful day along our magnificent shorelines with so many wonderful and caring community members, year-rounders and seasonal, made it a fun and successful event.

It is always especially gratifying to see so many young people involved. The more opportunities we all have to be outside experiencing and learning about our diverse coastal environment the more likely we will be to respect it and to help plan for its protection as the changing climate continues to impact our Island.

The following is a list of those we want to recognize for their participation in this year’s cleanup. A special thanks to the Harbor View Hotel for hosting the wonderful lunch party after the hard work was done. We are so fortunate to have all these caring businesses and organizations as part of our special community. Thank you, Thank you, Thank You!

Extra special thanks to our sponsors and to many individuals, Susan Waldrop, Mait Edey, and the hundreds of participants of all ages who came out and helped clear our Island’s beaches of trash!
