The youngest boys of summer picked up a championship win over the weekend.

After defeating host team Bourne 7-6 in the finals of the Bourne Tournament, the travel under-8 baseball team earned the top spot in the tournament and the hardware to go alone with it. On Saturday the team played three games, defeating Barnstable 19-11, taking a close 10-9 loss to Wareham and falling to Bourne 11-1. With two wins under their belt, the under-8s bounced back against Wareham in the semifinal game on Sunday, taking a 14-11 win before rallying against Bourne in the championship game.

Players on the U-8 team are Jackson Burgoyne, Jack DeBettencourt, Cole Lambert, Declan McCarthy, Teagan Myers, Charlie Porterfield, Thatcher Rudnik, Eamon Savard, Micah Simmons, Silas Stanek-Streed, Nate Story, Faith Thigpen, Tysean Thomas, and Samson Zack. The team is coached by Mike DeBettencourt, Gary Simmons, and Chip Story.
