As the Futures Collegiate Baseball League postseason draws closer, the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks hold steady in second place of their division. The team is now 21-19 on the season, and three games behind the first-place Brockton Rox in the East Division of the FCBL.

The Sharks began the week with a tough 3-2 loss to the North Shore Navigators Thursday, with the Navs rallying for three runs in the ninth. A 10-7 loss to the Seacoast Mavericks followed, but the team earned a 7-1 win over Brockton Saturday night.

Starter Matt Quintana (Siena) struck out six in six innings. After two days off, the Sharks hosted the Torrington Titans, falling 13-2 in Tuesday’s home game. They avenged their earlier loss to the Mavericks Wednesday, helped by Luke Bonfield’s standout offensive performance. Bonfield (Arkansas) had three home runs and seven runs batted in to lead the Sharks to a 9-4 win.

The Sharks have three home games this week. They take on Brockton Friday night, and host the Worcester Bravehearts Tuesday before another Mavericks contest Wednesday night. Game times are at 7 p.m.
