Each summer, for over 54 years, the Vineyard community has made it possible for the Friends of the West Tisbury Library to raise money in support of our library. This August, we sold $21,000 worth of books.
We could not have such a successful sale without generous book donations, the hard work of over 30 volunteers, the cooperation of the West Tisbury School and the use of their gym for the month of July, the physical labor of the community service program directed by Brian Kennedy and Nate Durawa, and the year-long sorting process led by Lee Revere and Helen DeBlase.
The gym was filled with over 30,000 books, sorted and priced and ready to go to new homes on August 1 — it’s the ultimate recycle/buy local event!
We accept good, clean books all year long. Donations may be dropped off anytime, to a clearly marked donation door, at our sheds at the West Tisbury School.
Thank you to everyone who helped and who came to buy. See you next summer.
