To provide food, warmth and community during the long Vineyard winter, faith communities around the Island are once again offering free community suppers. Various churches take turns so that every night of the week is covered.

Sunday afternoon make your way to the Federated Church in Edgartown for a lasagna lunch at 12:30 p.m. beginning on Jan. 11.

Monday means dinner at the Old Whaling Church on Main street in Edgartown at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday is soup supper day at the Chilmark Community Church. Get there at 5:30 p.m. for a bowl of warm homemade soup.

Wednesdays are in West Tisbury at the First Congregational Church at 5:30 p.m. starting on Jan. 7.

Thursdays gather at St. Augustine’s Church in Vineyard Haven at 5 p.m., with the first dinner planned for Jan. 8.

Friday is the day for Grace Church to host supper beginning at 5 p.m., starting this Friday, Jan. 2.

Saturday come to the Trinity parish house at the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs, where serving begins at 5:30 p.m.

The menu changes every day, but the conversation and conviviality remains the same.
