Junot Diaz burst forth onto the literary scene with Drown, his first book of short stories that catapulted him to best-seller lists and college syllabi everywhere. That book featured the protagonist Junior, who grew up in the Dominican Republic and then moved to New Jersey, much like the writer himself.

His next book, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2008, and then his book of short stories This Is How You Lose Her was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2013.

But you knew all of this, you savvy reader, which is why on Thursday, July 30, at 4:30 p.m. you will be at the Noepe Center for Literary Arts to hear Mr. Diaz read and answer questions about his life and work. Noepe is located at 104 Main street, Edgartown.

Tickets are $25, available at the door, and are a tax-deductible donation to benefit Noepe Center for Literary Arts.
