Here we are in the middle of November and a sweater is the thing you can get away with most of the day but when that sun goes down it gets chilly. But all in all the weather has been pleasing.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Noah Smith who celebrated Nov. 15; Brooke Ward Nov. 16; Kelly Cleary and Hiaggo Goncalves, Nov. 17; Alazandra Navarrete, Nov. 18; Chrystal Ray, Nov. 19; and to Carina Cataloni and Kaio Pereira who celebrate their day Nov. 20.

People are starting to hustle and bustle trying to get into the holiday spirit. People are looking for wreaths, and ordering their trees and greens. It is starting to get exciting, but the pressure is on.

I have watched my neighbor Zack Waller grow up to a fine young man. He has gone to college and has a bachelor’s degree in business. However, he has wanderlust in his veins. This is not a bad thing, and all the more power to him to travel and see the world. I envy him that. He has been to Russia, Germany, Turkey, and the list goes on.

He has been back home, after leaving Boston, and now he has told me he has joined the Peace Corps and will be traveling abroad to Georgia. He will be there two years and then who knows. I wish him the best of luck and know he will do well overseas and they will certainly appreciate him. Can’t wait to hear what his next adventure will be.

The Federated Church of Edgartown will hold its sixth annual Festival of Wreaths on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the parish house on 45 South Summer street, Edgartown. Seventy-five originally designed and hand decorated natural wreaths, for home and business, will be on display in the meetinghouse and for sale at $45, $55 and $65, depending on your generosity.

This year there is no admission fee to the parish house party, which includes beverages and hors d’oeuvres. There will be a special wreath raffle, and an auction of many other surprises of value. Proceeds will benefit the maintenance of the 1832 Sara Mayhew parsonage. For more information, call Marna Waller at the church office at 508-627-4421.

With all the chaos going on in this world right now and things hitting so close to home, let us keep all in our thoughts and prayers. Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
