The West Tisbury Library has received a gift of books from the Vineyard’s sister island, the Caribbean nation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The books were brought to the Vineyard by the Honorable Selmon Walters, the consul general of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and his delegation.

The gift of books ranging from pocket-sized tour guides to coffee table photo books to essay collections about the nation’s nature, prime ministers and notable scholars is meant to help the Vineyard learn more about Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The books are on display in the library’s travel section and available for all patrons.

Martha’s Vineyard and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines became official sister islands in September 2014, though the relationship between the islands dates back to the 19th century.
