Matthew Desmond, author of Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, will be the featured author on Sunday, July 24, as part of this summer’s Martha's Vineyard Author Series. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and takes place at the Chilmark Community Center.

In his book, Mr. Desmond takes the reader into the poorest neighborhoods of Milwaukee to tell the story of eight families on the edge. The author moved into a trailer park and then to a rooming house to be close to the families and not just tell their difficult stories, but to also propose solutions to the issues of homelessness and affordable housing.
