I am sitting here listening to the rain drops on the windows thinking how peaceful it is and calming. We need the rain even though they have said we are not in a dire drought state. But I always think even though we have no flowers and the grass is not green, we always need rain especially for the wildlife.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week.

Winter is upon us and everything is slowing down, people have left for their winter homes and many are staying in. I hear a lot of people talking about the cold and the snow and how much they dislike it, but my feeling is we are here in New England and that is what we expect and we have gotten for years. Also, there are many people who make a living from the cold weather. The oil and propane people, the ski areas, the men that stay up and plow. I guess what I am trying to say is to make the best of it. We are used to this, otherwise we would live in Florida.

When the paper comes out the inauguration will either be taking place or it will be over. I hope the day goes smoothly and is a peaceful day. I am not getting into politics in this column, but with all the news that is going on in the world right now you pray for the best.

On the other hand it is a big weekend for football fans as the Patriots face the Steelers. I am a football fan so I am looking forward to the game and yelling at the TV. Should be a good game and all I can say is Go Pats!

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
