I own my moped as it is very economical and I can always find a parking space, even in the busy summer season. Now I will agree with the majority that the young people that rent the mopeds in the summer really abuse the use of the mopeds.

They ride in the middle of the road, doing 20 miles per hour in a 45 mph section of the road. They ride double which is a disaster as they lose their control.

Yet, let’s not blame everything on the operators of mopeds. Most car drivers give the moped the right of way, but there are plenty of the drivers that try to run us off the road. Young bucks in their pick-up trucks can be a scary experience as they climb right up on your back in an attempt to intimidate you.

There is no question in my mind that I believe that the rental of mopeds in the Vineyard will eventually be outlawed. However, there is a minority of private moped drivers still remain, and I ask the community to take us into consideration.
