As I sit here I am listening to the wind that is still sending some big gust of wind from Stella. Stella was a blowout compared to what the forecaster’s were telling us as far as snow, but the wind did blow hard and I know some of our beaches and roads paid the price. I am just glad no one was hurt. So now we see what else March has in store for us.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Isabelly Santana who celebrated March 12, and to Brianna Oliveira and Margaret Sykes, who celebrate March 17.

We are happy to have Beth and Bill Erickson home from Florida. They traveled up slowly visiting Bill’s mom, Shirley, then they stopped and visited friends from Florida that are at their home in Pennsylvania. Then it was on to visit daughter Jennifer and her husband Mark, and their two little girls Danielle and Shealyn. They were going to visit Beth’s dad Woody and his wife Joan, but they had the bug that went around here for a long time, and they drove home. So welcome home. Jonathan Tina, JJ and Audrey Polleys made their way to Florida for school vacation. They took their time going down and drove the back roads and did some exploring on the way down. They had a great week at Disney and all to soon were back in the car driving back home.

Mark, Ellen and Ella Blodgett also drove down to Disney and Sea World. They did everything you could possibly do plus got some rest and enjoyed the heat and the sun.

They came back slowly visiting a lot of shelters on the way home which is Ellen’s passion. She is always looking for dogs and finding them a good owner. You never know what she may come home with.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum prior to the town elections. The public is invited to attend and listen to candidates as they present their positions and answer questions from voters. There is a contested race for planning board this year, and it should be a lively discussion. Come to the Edgartown Library at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28.

Felix Neck will host a free Spring Equinox Stargazing event on Sunday March 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mark Lovewell will share some cosmic happenings as we celebrate the start of the spring season with stargazing, stories, a fire and treats.

The best news of the week is that the Dairy Queen opens Thursday, March 16. That is a sure sign of spring but also a chance for everyone to have a Buster Bar or one of their favorite Blizzards. Whatever your choice, enjoy.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
