Another blizzard bluff with no snow on Sunday despite what was predicted. Now we have fake weather reports. It is spring time and we can only hope the snow storms have ended. The dredging company J-Way was to have removed all signs of their existence by Tuesday afternoon. As of early evening on Monday, everything was still in its place. On Tuesday afternoon at about 4:30 p.m. a flatbed truck with a bulldozer or two cruised up Lighthouse Road. Oh well.
Spring has sprung at the Aquinnah Public Library. On Saturday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. there will be story time, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is Kids Craft making paper chain snakes. On Tuesday, March 28 at 4 p.m. the after-school club will meet and at 5:30 p.m. the book group will discuss A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jenny Egan.
Elizabeth Wike of the Chilmark School PTO reminds all that the annual bash to benefit the Chilmark School, The Fool’s Bash, will be on Saturday, April 1 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center. Music and dancing with Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, and comedian Rafi Gonzalez will entertain. There will be a photo booth, beverages and desserts, live and silent auctions, all for $20 per person at the door. Always a fun evening.
Dr. Sofia Anthony notes that The Neigborhood Convention will meet on Tuesday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at The Bodhi Path Buddhist Center. All are welcome. Bring a sack lunch.
Susan Block invites all to the presentation of Diabetes and Sugars, a free one-hour class offered by the Martha’s Vineyard Partnership for Health in partnership with ACEMV on April 5 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the high school. Vineyard Smiles will have a free dental clinic for cleanings and exams on April 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the town hall for Aquinnah residents 20 years and older who do not have dental insurance and meet the income guidelines. Charlie Hoye and Kathy Olsen were critter sitters at the Taylor and MacPhail homes while everyone was enjoying Elizabeth Island recently. Charlie and Kathy have since returned to Vineyard Haven while awaiting the completion of their new abode by the end of the month.
Tom Murphy and his son Tim are having a great time traveling Viet Nam and visiting areas where Tom was stationed with the U.S. Army in ’70 and ’71.

Jannette Vanderhoop shares the day on March 29 with Ed Fantasia and Diane Reed. Rhoda Diamond will observe her special day on March 30 as will Randhi Belain and Heidi Vanderhoop. And last but certainly not least, March 31 is Durkee Day in the Vineyard Gazette newsroom as Steve Durkee serenades the masses. Amy Macey will party on March 31 as well.
