We have a wonderful four-month old gray kitten that could possibly be a Russian blue. Her name is Kelly and she is sweet and gentle. She has a lovely purr too. Her sister Grace was just adopted so she’s feeling a bit lonely and hopes that a loving home will happen for her soon as well. We expect this girl will get snapped up quickly so hurry in to meet her if you’re looking for a kitten to add to your family.
We have three calico guinea pigs hoping to find forever homes soon. Lucky and Maple are older males who love being handled. Lucky has a white blaze on his face and a white ruff, while Maple has a maple-colored face. Ruby is a young female whose white blaze goes over her head and connects with her big white ruff. She is also very sweet, but not as used to getting handled as the older boys. But she certainly does love to come out of her cage for some petting. Guinea pigs love and need attention so even if you’re not in the market for a piggy please stop in to provide some petting. They will most likely serenade you, then who knows what might happen.
Lobby cat Chaps definitely considers the shelter his home. He’s quite comfortable living here but if someone should fall hard for him we could be persuaded to let him go. He’s 12 years old, white with striking black markings, and a very mellow boy. He’s happy to just hang out and have a safe place with some good eats and a little attention.
The shelter would like to remind all pet owners how quickly temperatures rise in a closed vehicle. Please do not leave your pets in what can rapidly become a deadly situation. Additionally, please be mindful of how hot asphalt and pavement can be on delicate paws in the summer heat. Dogs should be not walked on hot pavement between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
