Wind Festival Come September, just after school starts and the large crowds leave the Island, a force of a different sort settles in. We are talking about wind, which picks up in the pre-fall days making it a perfect time to launch all manner of things into the air, even your own body if kite surfing is your thing.

But for those who like to stay grounded there is the annual Wind Festival, held this year on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Ocean Park.

There will be kites (flying them and making them), frisbees, sailboat races and prizes, ranging from biggest to smallest to most unusual kite. Music, bubbles and so much more round out the day.
