I know you all know I like a little cooler weather but we sure have been in bonus mode. The sun is shining, the breeze is just right and it is warm. Even though we are, or should I say had some much needed rain, we have been lucky.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Pedro Abreu, who celebrated his day Oct. 23; Braylin Hattingh, Oct. 24; Emily Crowell and Claire Proctor, Oct. 25; Hyago Silva, Oct. 26; and to Arthur Avansini, Isabella Burns, Mason Burns, Noah Burns, and to Highly Marsh who all celebrated their day Oct. 27. Surprise, I remembered.
It’s a milestone birthday for Carol Fligor as she turns 80 on Nov. 1. The Sunday before, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the home of Leslye and Andy in Weston, including Anne and Brad from Edgartown and Abby from Burlington and relatives from all over.
Abby will then accompany her parents to New York city where there are plans to see the Broadway play, War Paint, with a Vineyard connection to Arnie Reisman who co-authored, directed and produced the documentary, The Powder and The Glory.
And then, for the fun of it, they will visit the Today Show, hoping to say that they are from the beautiful Island of Martha’s Vineyard and more. Tune in early on Nov. 1.
Also big birthday wishes to Sara Piazza who celebrated her day Oct. 22, and celebrated her day playing fiddle with all her friends and entertaining the passersby.
I was giggling this week after my comment on Christmas not far away. This week on Facebook there were people posting pictures of catalogs that are piled in their boxes with gift ideas. My favorite was my niece Lori Noble and their kid Sabrina and Ben at the door with the Toys R Us catalogue doing a fist pump. And so it begins.
But for the next couple of days we get to enjoy the little scarecrows or creatures that are in front of the stores up and down Main street. Of course the creations are made by the students at the Charter School and are on display in each town.
The Federated Church in Edgartown invites you to celebrate All Saints Day, on Sunday, Oct. 29, This Sunday service begins at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. David G. Berube, pastor.
Join them in worship on this special day as we remember the Saints who have gone before us, who were members, families and friends of the Federated Church. You are invited to bring a framed photo to be placed on a special table in front of the pulpit. For more information call 508-627-4421 or email admin@federatedchurchmv.org.
Keep your eye out this weekend for the trick or treaters who will be out searching for candy as there are many parities and activities going on.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
