Sara M. Kratovil and Thomas W. Stern were married on Sept. 16 at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, Conn. The Rev. Terrence L. Elsberry of Christ Church Greenwich officiated. Katherine C. Mackenbach and Allie Mae Margolis were the maids of honor and Jonathan R. Kalick and Bradley H. Robinson were the best men. Their beloved Labrador, Goose, was best dog.

The bride is the daughter of Lyn S. Cushman and David W. Kratovil of Greenwich. An alumna of Greenwich Academy, she graduated from Bucknell University with a bachelor of arts in economics and geography. She is the mobile apps project manager for the Fox News Channel in New York city.

Her family has had a strong connection to Martha’s Vineyard beginning with her paternal grandparents’ initial visits in the late 1930s followed by their family summers in the 1960s and her many summer and fall visits beginning in her early years right up through this past summer. In honor of her grandparents, the bride wore within her wedding gown their 1981 MV Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby buttons, numbers 208 and 209, to complete the “something old and something blue” of the traditional bridal rhyme. Mrs. Stern is the granddaughter of the late Louise DeW. and Emil A. Kratovil Sr. of Greenwich and Justine T. and the late Erling D. Sedergren of Southbury, Conn.

The bridegroom is the son of Kathryn T. Greenthal and Dr. Theodore A. Stern of Boston. An alumnus of The Roxbury Latin School, he graduated from Duke University with a bachelor of arts degree in history and markets and management studies. He is the director of national advertising sales at Gothamist LLC in New York City, an operator and franchisor of city-centric informational websites.

Mr. Stern also spent many summers in his early years on the Vineyard, up-Island, visiting friends and more recently visiting with Sara. He is the grandson of the late Eleanor B. and Leonard J. Greenthal of New York city and Libby and the late Marvin Stern of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The couple initially met in Washington, D.C., at a concert.

They will make their home in New York city.
