It’s no secret there’s been a lot of chatter about Cronig’s and Steve Bernier. His decision to sever ties with Island Club is his decision and rather than cutting out assistance for those who truly need the help he devised and is implementing his own system. I’m sure this is a costly process. Hats off to him.

As for the judgments — really folks isn’t there a lot more to think about, spend your time on? So what if he has a nice home on nice land! Some think that because he has worked hard and done well he “owes”others something. Well, he doesn’t. Although I don’t know him personally, his actions tell me he cares. And that we need a lot more of in this country, this world.

Within this community and beyond we have choices. I shop at Reliable (love the Pachecos) and Cronig’s. Between them I get what I need and want. And both of them give to this community, supporting our Island life. Let’s stop the ugly chatter; there’s more than enough of that to go around.
