On Sunday, Jan. 14, I embarked on what seemed like an ambitious expedition with my daughter, Bradley. Our adventure would take us down the I-95 corridor to Williamsburg, Va. final destination the College of William & Mary for her last semester of a college experience.

We set out on the 8:15 a.m. boat surrounded by the bantam hockey team, other college kids and their folks and lots of wee ones making laps around weaving between tables and chairs saying “hi” to all they passed. Parents were not far behind smiling as they marveled at their little ones curiosity. Most of this made me feel warm inside and like my heart was wearing a smile but, part of me, felt sorrowful as I thought about a family who lost a child too soon. My condolences go out to the family of Jake Baird.

Bradley and I passed through hometowns along the eastern seaboard of many a summer friend whom I would have loved to pop in on for a hi and a hug. Due to time constraints I simply couldn’t.

Elise Hillman Green, please know it was difficult to pass though Greenwich without diverting off Interstate 95 to grab a cup of tea with you.

Sarah Guinan Nixon, a loop around the monuments in our nations capital is never the same without you.

Mike Broderick’s and Mary McConneloug’s Trans Andes Enduro racing brought them through beautiful Chilean terrain and landed both on the podium. Mike took a third among some truly talented riders and Mary was in it for a win this year. Congratulations to this dynamic duo.

Jeff Bezanson was in town this past week to check on houses and tackle a few chores. I always enjoy my Texaco catch-ups with him over a cup of hot cocoa and, perhaps, a little nibble of a cinnamon twist.

Well wishes to Kendall Harris who’s been down with the flu and pneumonia.

Well wishes to Erica Bunker Ponte who’s been battling a steadfast cold this week. Jake and Shelby are under the weather too so a heartfelt hang in there goes to the inhabitants of Beetlebung Farm.

Jan Burhman had a slight delay returning from the Diaeta Way Costa Rican cooking and yoga adventure she co-guides with John Bagnulo. It’s unique, inspired and restorative. Check out the information linked through her Kitchen Porch site.

I’ve been enjoying my little walks through the past with my Tea Lane resident friend who shall remain anonymous. I’ll give you a hint, though, her initials are TK. She’s been a wealth of information and I look forward to her informative messages.

The last message I received from my anonymous source arrived just on the coattails of a photograph shared recently from another fabulous source of information. Conrad Neumann, part time Chilmarker and brother to Jane (Neumann) Slater, sparked conversation around a Menemsha photo depicting the ice house and one of the Larsen’s vessels, Christine & Dan. Larsens, Fischer and Sewards all weighed in with colorful commentary. There has, however, been a little back and forth regarding the year the photo was snapped but, as most recall, the ice house didn’t remain along the Menemsha waterfront for very long.

Does anyone have documentation of the exact time frame during which it stood? Jane, Everett Poole, Jimmy Morgan or Harriet Otteson, do you know the precise ice house time frame?
