Oak Bluffs police have arrested two men following a weeklong investigation into the theft of a large amount of cash from an East Chop home.

Jason Reagan, 36, of Oak Bluffs, and Tyrone Barlosky, 36, of Vineyard Haven, were both arrested in connection with the Jan. 25 break-in at a private residence on Crystal Lake Road, according to police.

According to a police report filed in court, the homeowner reported the theft of at least $20,000 in cash, as well as a MacBook computer, iPhones, and a gold coin. The amount of money stolen was later estimated at closer to $50,000.

The report filed said Mr. Reagan allegedly did carpentry work on the home.

After a police investigation, he was arrested on Feb. 1. He was arraigned that day in Edgartown district court on charges of breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, larceny more than $250, and larceny from a building. Bail was set at $1,000. According to police, he was being held at the Dukes County jail on a probation violation, and according to court records he had not posted bail as of Wednesday.

Police said Mr. Barlosky was arrested Feb. 4 under the joint venture theory, a provision under Massachusetts law that allows a person to be charged for participating in a crime. According to documents filed in court, probable cause was found that Mr. Barlosky worked in conjunction with Mr. Reagan in the alleged breaking and entering. Mr. Barlosky was arraigned Feb. 5 on charges of breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, larceny more than $250, and larceny from a building. A $500 surety bail was posted.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court for pretrial hearings on Feb. 12.

Criminal charges are also being sought against Mr. Reagan’s girlfriend, Hillary Seaton, 41, of Oak Bluffs, as well as Jason R. Willoughby, 32, of Vineyard Haven. Both will be charged with receiving stolen property more than $250, police said.

Police said the case remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oak Bluffs police at 508-693-0750.
