We are having 50-degree weather this week then a northeaster this weekend. I am not concerned with the water table this year. The ponds are full. So I hope the yard work can get started. My daffodils are coming up between leaves and I have crocuses in bloom. Happy birthday to all who celebrated this past week. Big balloons go out to Quinn Filiault, who celebrated Feb. 23, Matheus Lage, Octavio Xavier Feb. 24, Lucy Engler,Feb. 25, Benjamin Belisle Feb. 26, Laura Gomes Feb. 27, and to Sarah Lively who celebrated Feb. 28.

I had forgotten that it was school vacation as I overslept on Monday morning. I woke up seeing it was lighter than usual and figured out that there were no buses or cars going by. It is amazing how quiet this street is.

But there here is always some action at the Boys & Girls Club, or the playground area. I was walking Merida on her daily run and I went to the playground so she could chase the ball. While there on Monday, I saw a mother and child heading toward me. I wanted to let them know that Merida was friendly and would not bother them. As they got closer, I thought I had seen the young man before but could not place him. After talking for awhile, I asked their names. It was Kara Thibodeau and her son Zeke, whom I had met at Donaromas with his grandmother Sara Piazza. I smiled as I looked at Zeke and thought of his aunt Maria when she was a little girl. He wore out Merida as he threw the ball nonstop while we talked.

Felix Neck’s Célilí is having an Irish gathering to celebrate the day. Join them for a traditional Lá Fhéile Pádraig — the Day of the Festival of Patrick, on Saturday, March 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. in their new barn. All ages are welcome.

To buy tickets, call 508-627-4850 or register online at massaudubon.org/felixneck.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
