As a resident and taxpayer in Tisbury since 1980, I request that all resident senior citizens (65-plus) be exempt from any proposed tax increase for the contemplated construction of the Tisbury elementary school.

Seniors receiving Social Security in 2018 received a two per cent increase ($40 on average per month). In 2017 the increase was .3 per cent ($4 per month). In 2016 the increase was zero.

Most seniors living on Martha’s Vineyard are beset with financial constraints for their golden years. The possibility of seniors being taxed an additional $108-plus per month for this project is of most concern. Seniors in Tisbury have paid their dues many times over for our town.

Save the Tisbury School.
