Three longtime Steamship Authority employees are retiring this summer, including the human resources director and general counsel.

Steven Sayers, who has been the boat line’s only in-house attorney since 1992, will retire at the end of July, the SSA said. He will be replaced by Terence Kenneally, a civil attorney who has worked with the Steamship Authority while at Clinton & Muzyka P.C. in Boston since 2004. Mr. Kenneally began working with the baot line on May 1.

Human resources director Phil Parent will retire at the end of August after 48 years with the boat line. He began working as a ticket-seller and dock worker in 1970 and rose through the ranks before becoming director of human resources in 1991. Port captain Capt. Charles (Greg) Gifford retired June 15. Mr. Gifford was responsible for creating the SSA’s training programs for vessel crews as well as day-to-day vessel operations.
