Three young Metropolitan Opera singers are making their Opera at Featherstone debut next weekend in Gaetano Donizetti’s La fille du régiment (The Daughter of the Regiment), Friday through Sunday at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs.

So Young Park, a soprano who plays the canteen girl Maria, will sing the Queen of the Night from Mozart’s The Magic Flute during the Met’s 2019 season.

Mezzo Karolina Pilou, who made her Met debut last year as Berta in The Barber of Seville, plays the high-maintenance and determined Marquise of Berkenfield.

Tenor Luke Grooms is also a Met artist and has starred in the touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. In La fille du régiment, his character Tonio sighs for Maria and also sings the most famous tenor aria in operatic literature: Ah! Mes amis, quel jour du fête, with its nine high Cs.

Bass-baritone Adelmo Guidarelli sings the role of Sgt. Sulpice. In addition to multiple opera runs each year, Mr. Guidarelli has been heard and seen in Sony Playstation advertisements, hosted television shows including Voices Among Us and won a comedy award for a show called Operation Opera.

Directed by Wendy Taucher, the cast’s comic gifts never detract from the power and beauty of their singing voices as they perform in the original French.

Keeping audiences in the know about the plot’s finer details is character actor Donovan Dietz, a frequent collaborator with Ms. Taucher.

In the (non-canon) role of crystal-ball-consulting fortune teller Madam Fortune, Mr. Dietz appears between arias to provide snappy narrations such as “In the mean time, the Tyrolean pledges his high Cs to the regiment.”

The music director is Ed Bak, another frequent collaborator of Ms. Taucher’s who works in both opera and chamber music.

La fille du régiment opens July 27 at 6 p.m., followed by a gala supper with the cast and an award ceremony honoring Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society founder and artistic director Delores Stevens.

The family-friendly opera also plays at 7 p.m. on July 28 and July 29. For information and tickets, visit wendytaucherdanceoperatheater.com.
