Ava Danielle Goldson married Nicholas Buford Crews on June 29 in a family ceremony performed at the Vineyard cottage of the bride’s family. The ceremony was conducted by attorney, Fletcher (Flash) Wiley.

The bride is the daughter of Amy Robertson Goldson and the late Dr. Alfred Lloyd Goldson. The groom is the son of Deborah Marshall Honore’ Crews and Robert Benjamin Crews. The bride was given in marriage by her mother. Her sister Erin Nicole Goldson served as her maid of honor. The best man, Robert Crews, was the groom’s brother.

Ava wore the same gown that her mother wore at her wedding. It was designed by Frank Massandrea and fashioned of white silk organza and guipere lace with an attached chapel train.

Ava is a magna cum laude graduate of Spelman College and Nick is a cum laude graduate of Morehouse College and the University of Nevada, Boyd School of Law. The bride is an associate manager of corporate social responsibility at HBO. The groom is the president of the family hospitality and retail business known nationally as CREWS. They operate most of their properties in airport concession spaces in major urban locations.

Ava and Nick met as children on the Vineyard and reconnected over the years. Ava’s great grandmother Lucille Lippman owned a cottage across from Niantic Park. Her grandparents, Buddy and Emily Robertson, summered not far away. The bride’s parents were life-long summer residents and they too met here.

Bob and Debbie Crews have hosted political and social events over the decades here on the Island and both have played championship golf at Farm Neck.

After a honeymoon in Italy the couple will reside in Marina del Ray, Calif.
