Last year at the Gay Head 10K the top three finishers were women. Molly Seidel, a 23-year-old from Watertown won it all, running the 6.2-mile course in 35 minutes flat.

Will this year once again be a year for female dominance or will the dudes wake from some couch potato slumber and try to take the crown? Find out on Sunday, Oct. 7 beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The course is one of the most beautiful you will ever see, starting and finishing at the Gay Head Lighthouse. It winds its way along the ocean and dunes of Aquinnah making it hard to keep your eyes on the road. The course is U.S. Track and Field certified.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the continued upkeep of the Gay Head Lighthouse; the view from which can take your breath away even when not exhausted from a run. The cost is $30 or $40 the day of the race, with a maximum of 500 runners allowed to participate.
